Hi, I’m Romualdo Amaral — a Visualization Artist, VFX Lead, and Director based in Los Angeles.
I help bring stories to life through previsualization, postvisualization, CG integration, and cinematic storytelling for film and episodic productions. From camera movement to editing, stage direction to visual effects, I’ve had the privilege of shaping scenes for some of the biggest franchises in the industry.
But before Hollywood, there was Brazil.
That’s where I first dreamed of filmmaking — even while earning a degree in Computer Science. After several years in tech, I left everything behind to chase my true passion: visual storytelling. I moved to the U.S., earned my Master’s in 3D Animation and VFX from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, and directed my first animated short film, Steve’s Catch, collaborating with more than 100 artists. That film became my calling card — and the launchpad for everything that followed.
Since then, I’ve contributed to over 30 high-profile projects, often in lead roles — collaborating closely with directors, cinematographers, and VFX supervisors. Some highlights include:
-
Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts & Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Marvel Studios)
-
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Haunted Mansion, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and more…
As a Lead Visualization Artist at OPSIS and former artist at The Third Floor and MPC/Technicolor, I’ve worked on projects that demand precision, imagination, and agility — always pushing to deliver scenes that feel emotionally alive and visually bold.
In 2024, I expanded my creative path by completing the Directing Certificate at UCLA Extension, and directed my first live-action short film, “Small as a Pea" — a deeply personal project exploring intimacy, memory, and visual poetry.
Whether I’m designing sequences for major studios or building indie stories from scratch, I believe in storytelling that moves — visually, emotionally, and rhythmically.
Thanks for stopping by.
Let’s create something unforgettable. — frame by frame.
